O.W.L's Magical Readathon 2020

Now, this readathon is something every readers should know about, and if you don't know, it is the
O.W.L's Magical Readathon

I'm pretty sure it's one of the most anticipated readathon every year! Hosted by G, known as bookroast on youtube, O.W.L's Magical Readathon is hosted every year and takes place in the whole month of April. You choose a career from G's Magical Career Guide book and from there you'd read books according to the subjects and the prompts given in order for you to achieve you Magical career~

The career that I'm choosing this year is
Hogwarts Professor

This is how the Wizarding Careers Guidebook looks like

And this is the prompts for every subjects

I have a very interesting reason in choosing the career of Hogwarts Professor-- a very childish and dreamy one but reading is magical whether you're a child or a child at heart! and that's what I am :)

So anyways, the interesting reason in choosing this career is because my dream and plan after graduating Hogwarts is to renovate and to settle down at the Shrieking Shack. And to do that, I need a job and if I am to get a job, where's more important other than at Hogwarts? (Ehem, Prof. Trelawney, dat me?)

So, for me to be able to pursue my dream in becoming a Hogwarts Professor, I'd have to pass 7 O.W.L's in total! I had definitely planned my O.W.L's Magical Readathon TBR weeks before April came and here they are! :)

A subject you wish to teach:
Defence Against the Dark Arts

Defence Against the Dark Arts - Gryndylows, Set at beach / coast:

Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin

Elsewhere is literally the only book I have that is set at coast-- it's set at an island in the middle of the ocean where you'd go where people go after they've died. Honestly, that's super interesting to read.
I bought this book many years ago and haven't had the chance (or mood!) to read it. And now that I've finally have the chance to read it, unfortunately the book is at someplace else, and with all these movement control order due to COVID-19, there is no possibility that I'd get the book in my hands. Ughh. Anyways, if I still can't get the book, I'll just have to read the ebook 😞

5 additional subjects of your choice:

Potions - Shrinking Solution, under 150 pages:

Hogwarts: An Incomplete & Unreliable Guide by J.K Rowling

A short and simple way to learn more about Hogwarts! I'm reading the ebook and it's less than 150 pages. Definitely the best way to learn about Hogwarts, the witches and wizards in Hogwarts and other creatures in Hogwarts!

Transfiguration - Animagus lecture, shapeshifting!:

The Outsider by Stephen King

As soon as I found out that The Outsider is about shapeshifting, I was determined to read it for O.W.L's that I immediately broke my 'no buying' rule! So I shameless went out the same day I was planning for my O.W.L's TBR and bought this book. I'm super excited to read this and once I've read it, I'm definitely watching the series!
The Outsider is the thickest book I have for O.W.L's and I'm not kidding but I am kind of worried that I wouldn't be able to finish it in time but, I'll pull through! All nighters if I need it!

Charms - Lumos Maxima, white cover:

The Island of Adventure by Enid Blyton

I literally have no books that have white cover and so I had looked and looked and The Island of Adventure immediately caught my eye!! The white cover caught my eye and then the facts that it's by Enid Blyton confirmed my choice to read it 😊

Care of Magical Creatures - Hippogriffs, beak on the cover!:

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (Hogwarts Library) by Newt Scamander

Good lord. Isn't this the perfect book for Care of Magical Creatures!? Try to tell me otherwise and fight me :') I'll be listening to the audiobook since I've been an idiot for ignoring the book whenever I see them in the bookshops and now I'm berating myself as to why I've never bought it before this so yes. Anyways, listening to this will definitely be more precious since it's narrated by Newt Scamander himself! πŸ’š

History of Magic - Witch haunts, books featuring witches / wizards:

The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien

I actually wanted to read this in April but then O.W.L's came and so I thought I'd have to put it aside and will read it in May. AND THEN, change of plans! Saw on the O.W.L's recommendation document and a lot of fellow students had recommended The Hobbit to be read for History of Magic. And since I'd been complaining of how much I feel like I'm cheating because my study list consists of audiobooks and short/thin books only, so why not!? And now I'm really excited 😍

I'm also taking Animagus Training and Legal Defence of Fantastic Beasts Seminar! The subject required are mostly overlapping except, for Animagus Training's Arithmancy!

Arithmancy - Magical Qualities, balance / opposites, something outside your favourite genre:

The Princess Saves Herself In This One by Amanda Lovelace

Something outside my favourite genre??? DEFINITELY poetry! I wanted to try one of the hyped poetry books but The Princess Saves Herself In This One caught my eye. I'm excited to read my first poetry book and I really hope it'd open my eye to read more poetry in the future!

I joined O.W.L's Readathon 2019 and it went well and I had super fun! But I went for Auror last year and it required lesser books than Hogwarts Professor. But this time, I have to read 7 books! Knowing the ~slow reader~ me, I humbled up and included 2 audiobooks on my TBR. I also made sure that the books weren't so thick but... still thick. I want to enjoy myself, so I made sure to know my level in reading. I am worried but I am confident with my TBR and will continue to try hard while also just enjoy! and not beat myself up if I couldn't read them all πŸ˜…

HAPPY MAGICAL READING!
